We are about to make major advancements in our transformation – focusing on enhanced electrical capacity, improved electrical infrastructure, and our own energy.
Increased electrical capacity and new infrastructure.
To meet the demand for electrified solutions such as shore power, we have applied to E.on for increased electrical capacity. By the summer of 2025, we will receive additional capacity – a crucial step in our electrification journey.
For this to work, it is also essential to have our internal electrical grid in place. We are currently looking for a project manager to develop a plan for our electrical and charging infrastructure starting this spring. This work is expected to be completed by 2027.
Investment in Our Own Energy Production
We are also moving towards our own energy production by building two solar power solutions. One is part of our collaboration within the Sustainable Flow project, where we are installing solar panels on the roof of our headquarters. The other will be a larger ground-mounted system in our port area. The solar panels on our headquarters will cover half of the building’s annual electricity needs, while the ground installation will provide an additional 600 kW capacity. Planning is underway, and both facilities are expected to be operational in 2025.
“Providing shore power to our vessels is one of the key elements of our transition strategy. In 2022, we commissioned a new transformer station, which was an important piece of the puzzle. It supplies electricity to our cranes and will soon also power our shore power chambers on the quays. It is incredibly inspiring to work on projects like this, where every component is an important part in our green transition,” says project leader John Sundqvist.
These initiatives are entirely new for us and represent a significant step towards reducing our climate footprint and creating sustainable solutions for the long term. We look forward to providing you with further updates on these projects in the future.
